HOT STONE

THE TREATMENT & MY THOUGHTS

A traditional heated massage done with smooth basalt stones that can be tailored to suit your needs. Whether that is stress release, relief of muscle tension or you are simply after a little pampering. The heat can help the muscles to relax allowing me to do deeper work in the muscle if needed. The stones can be heated to a temperature which suits you and I use coconut oil (other oils available on request) to give you beautiful soft skin and a scent which takes you off to tropical climbs. Stones can either be placed to warm the muscle up and help it relax or used in the sweeping strokes to allow the heat to penetrate deeper into the muscle fibres.

If you have swelling or other areas of concern the treatment can be both a hot and cold stone or a cold stone massage, depending on which you would prefer. Whilst cold stones aren’t as popular as hot stones it can be just as beneficial and relaxing when conducted the right way.

I tailor all treatments to create a massage to suit you and give you the best possible experience!

HISTORY

There are many possible sources of the history of Hot Stones massage, one thing for sure is that it is not a new therapy. There have been records showing the use of hot stones to improve health and relaxation, 5000 years ago in India as part of the Ayurveda way of life. There is also evidence showing that stone massage was used in ancient Greece and Rome as part of the bath ritual. The stones were combined with the hot immersion baths and the cooling effects of marble stone and cold pools.
